Building off of our successful pilot in 2019, we are partnering with the RepresentUs Campaign Accelerator to offer grants and in-kind support to seed campaigns that will advance political reform through ballot measures or legislative advocacy campaigns. The resources are intended to foster opportunities in which advancing reform policy becomes possible within the next two to five years.
Our growing movement needs to start, support, and seed new advocacy organizations and ballot measure campaigns capable of winning at the state level on independent redistricting, ranked choice voting, vote at home, and nonpartisan primaries.
Often, early stage organizations may lack the institutional support they need to get off the ground. Funding is the biggest constraint, but we have also found practitioners need support on items like policy development, legal guidance, fundraising, brand development, and more.
The Accelerator Award program provides seed funding from the Unite America Fund to new and emerging organizations working to advance political reform as well as in-kind support from the RepresentUs Campaign Accelerator. With grants ranging from $25-$150k, funding provides critical resources to start and enhance nascent opportunities. Grants of this size allow leaders to dedicate themselves full-time to the effort, and begin to build grassroots support among allies.
In addition, in-kind support from the RepresentUs team equips local organizations with a suite of professional services designed to turbo-charge their campaigns. Instead of needing to find specialized resources from a mirage of partners, a campaign-in-a-box model allows for economies of scale and for true partnership building instead of a traditional fee for service model.
