Statement: Altmire & Curbelo on Election Integrity

Former Congressmen and Unite America board members Jason Altmire (D-PA) and Carlos Curbelo (R-FL) released the following statement on honoring election results.

"As former representatives from opposite parties in two swing states, we join together to affirm that today’s election will end when all eligible votes are counted and results are certified –– not when any candidate, party, or pundit says so.

“The legitimacy of our elections is not about who wins; it’s about who votes, and ensuring every vote legally cast is counted. We call on all Americans to stand ready to accept the results of today’s election, whatever they may be, and remain patient while votes are tallied, as generations before us have done.

“We are encouraged by the millions of Americans who are exercising their right to vote today, and moved by the thousands of election heroes –– local administrators and volunteer poll workers alike –– who make it all possible.
